Books make great pairings with lots of things, including fabulous food. No one understands that better than cookbook author and cooking teacher Bonnie Stern, who loves to introduce people to new books the same way she introduces them to new flavors and recipes. Bonnie thinks the pairing of space and story is also delicious. That's why she's today's Page Turner.
Hi. I’m Bonnie Stern. Some of you may know me as a cookbook author and cooking teacher but really I started out to be a librarian. I love to cook but I also love to read and know that many people feel the same way. I even started a book club where authors of novels and memoirs come to discuss their work and we all have a dinner together that in some way match the themes in their books.
I love the idea of Project Bookmark Canada and its efforts to commemorate and celebrate the physical locations of some of my favourite books.
Special occasions are often marked by special meals. They create delicious memories. The specific locations in books we love create memories as well. It is so exciting that Project Bookmark Canada has created a program where we can “visit” our favourite books while travelling across the country.
I donated $20 to become a Project Bookmark Canada Page Turner and I encourage you to do the same. You’ll feel good about supporting this unique project but you will also have a chance to win a copy of my cookbook Friday Night Dinners.
