Thank you every one who came out for the launch of Project Bookmark Canada. It was wonderful to see so many enthusiastic people at the Bloor Street Viaduct for the unveiling of our inaugural Bookmark: a passage from Michael Ondaatje’s In the Skin of a Lion in which a nun falls from the bridge during its construction.
You can see the launch replay on You Tube, including Mayor Miller’s speech and Michael Ondaatje’s remarks and reading. You can also read the text of Michael’s remarks here.
We had an enthusiastic crowd of over 100 people and the media was equally excited. Both the Toronto Star and The National Post newspapers ran stories on Bookmark. I also talked about the project with David Peterson at CIUT and with Matt Galloway on CBC’s Here and Now. In the days ahead, you can also listen for Michael Ondaatje’s comments on Bookmark during CBC’s The Next Chapter.
We even had a mention in the British newspaper The Guardian, which encourages the UK to follow our lead.
